2.Ensure that all internal cables are connected and routed correctly and secured by any cable clips or ties in the server. Keep cables clear of the hinges and sides of the chassis to avoid interference with reinstalling the cooling shroud and the server cover. The following illustration shows an example of the cable routing in the chassis with two backplanes for 16 2.5-inch hard disk drives.

Route the signal cables 1 through the left inner side of the chassis. The signal cables include the mini-SAS to mini-SAS signal cables, the front panel cable, the front panel USB cable, the diagnostic module cable, the SATA signal cable for the optical drive if your server has a slim optical drive installed, and the cable for the front VGA DB-15 connector.

If your server has a RAID card and an expander card installed, properly route the mini-SAS to mini-SAS signal cables 2 that are connected from the RAID card to the expander card.

Route the backplane power cables 3 through the right inner side of the chassis.

If your server has a slim optical drive installed, connect the power cable 4 for the optical drive to the optical drive power connector on the backplane and properly route the cable in the chassis.

3.If you have removed the cooling shroud, reinstall it. See “Removing and reinstalling the cooling shroud” on page 76.

4.For server models with 2.5-inch hot-swap hard disk drives, if you have removed the front bezel, reinstall it. See “Removing and reinstalling the front bezel” on page 73.
