TROUbLESHOOTING GUIDE

Observe Safety Guidelines

detailed in the beginning of this manual.

PRObLEMS (SYMPTOMS)

Poor arc striking with sticking or "blast-offs", weld porosity, narrow and ropy-looking bead, or electrode stubbing into plate while welding.

POSSIbLE AREAS OF

MISADJUSTMENT(S)

WELDING PRObLEMS

1.Verify that the welding techniques or procedures being used are proper. See "Gas Metal Arc Welding Guide" (GS-100), "lnnershield Production Welding Guide" (N675), “Outershield Procedure Guidelines” (GSP-70, GSP-71), “Procedure Guidelines for Pulsed Spray Welding” (GSP- PULSE) or "How To Make Submerged Arc Welders" (S604).

2. Check that

the

wire feed

acceleration setting is proper for

the process.

See

the

“Starting Characteristics" in the

Operation section

for

proper

acceleration setting.

 

 

3.Check that the Voltage Control Response is properly set for the power source and process. See the topic "Voltage Control Response" in the Operation section and the appropriate power source connection diagram.

If all recommended possible areas of misadjustment have been checked and the problem persists, contact your local Lincoln Authorized Field Service Facility.
