| The battery pack harness or cable must be disconnected from J23 on the |

| MegaRAID Enterprise 1600 160M card before you add or remove |
| |
|
|
| memory. |

1 | Bring down the operating system properly. Make sure that cache memory |
|
| ||
| has been flushed. You must perform a system reset if operating under DOS. |
|
| ||
| When the computer reboots, the MegaRAID controller will flush cache |
|
| ||
| memory. |

| ||
2 | Turn the computer power off. Disconnect the power cables from the |
|
| ||
| computer. |
|
| ||
3 | Remove the computer cover. |
|
| ||
4 | Disconnect the battery pack cable from the MegaRAID controller. |
|
| ||
5 | Remove the MegaRAID controller. |
|
| ||
6 | You can now add or remove DRAM modules from the MegaRAID |
|
| ||
| controller. Follow the instructions on page 51. |
|
| ||
7 | Reattach the battery pack harness to J23 on the MegaRAID controller. |

8 | Reinstall the MegaRAID controller in the computer. Follow the instructions |
|
| ||
| in this chapter. |

| ||
9 | Replace the computer cover and turn the computer power on. |
