Digi-IN Rec Format

Most of the RecFormat parameters recorded from a digital input source are determined by the input source. They are not changed because of settings made in the RecFormat menu.

The shaded areas in the chart below are set by the input source and ignore RecFormat menu settings.

RAW Mode

RAW (Read After Write) mode sets the operation of the MONITOR switch.

RAW is an electronic Read After Write. In all modes except 24 bit recording, the PMD671 can read a recording on the CF Card while simultaneously recording onto the CF Card.

When RAW Mode is at Monitor and if the MONITOR switch is at FILE when recording begins, the monitoring signal sent to the PHONES jack and LINE OUT jacks is read from the CF card a maximum of 2 seconds after it is recorded. Thus, the monitored signal is not the source but is the recording.

When RAW Mode is at TimeShft and if the MONITOR switch is at FILE when recording begins, the monitoring signal sent to the PHONES jack and LINE OUT jacks is the same as the source until a playback button is activated. (PLAY/PAUSE, TRACK JUMP, F.FWD or F.REV) The recording before the playback button was activated, and previously recorded tracks, can then be monitored and reviewed using normal playback controls while recording continues.

Notes:

An audio drop out of the monitoring signal may occur during RAW during high bit rate MP3 recording.

RAW and 24-bit recording requires high CF card access speed (see CARD CHECK page 22).

RAW is not available for 24-bit recording.

Verify is simultaneously available with RAW or Time Shift for appropriate files (see charts on page 14).
