Cleaning and care

A range of Miele branded cleaning and conditioning agents is available to order from the Miele Spare Parts Department, or via the internet on www.miele-shop.com.

Cleaning the drum (Hygiene info)

Washing at low temperatures and/or using liquid detergent can cause bacteria and unpleasant smells to build up in the machine. In order to clean the drum and also to prevent unpleasant smells building up, run a hot wash (60°C or above) with powder detergent once a month or when the Hygiene info message appears in the display.

Cleaning the machine

￿Disconnect the machine from the electricity supply by switching off at the wall socket and withdrawing the plug before any cleaning and maintenance work.

￿Do not use solvents, abrasive cleaners, glass cleaners or all-purpose cleaning agents. These might damage plastic surfaces and other components because of the chemicals they contain.

￿The machine must not be hosed down.

￿Clean the casing and the control panel with a mild non-abrasive cleaning agent or soap and water. Wipe dry with a soft cloth.

￿The drum can be cleaned using a suitable stainless-steel cleaning agent following the instructions on the packaging.

Cleaning the detergent dispenser drawer

The pre-wash and main wash compartments of the detergent drawer are self-cleaning. However, for hygiene reasons the entire detergent drawer should be cleaned as follows on a regular basis.

￿Pull out the detergent dispenser drawer until a resistance is felt. Press down the release catch and at the same time pull the drawer right out of the machine.

￿Clean the detergent drawer with hot water.
