Customizing Your Phone
• Java Earpiece — sets the volume of sou nd
associated with Java applications coming out of
the earpiece.
• Java Speaker —sets the volume of sound
associated with Java applications coming out of
the speaker.
•Data — sets the volume of sounds that notify
you that you are receivin g a circuit data call.
Security FeaturesThe Security menu lets you tu rn security features
on and off and change passwo rds:
• Phone Lock — turns on a feature that locks
your phone: Lock Now takes effect immediately;
Auto Lock takes effect when your phon e is
powered off and then on. An unlock code is
required to enable this fea ture, to unlock the
phone, and to set a new unlock code. Contact
your service provi der for your defau lt unlock
code.
•Keypad Lock — locks the phone’s keypad,
either immediately or automatically after a set
period of inactivity.
• SIM PIN — enables and disa bles your phone’s
SIM PIN security fe ature. See “Turning th e PIN
Requirement On and Off” on page 13.
• GPS PIN — enables and disabl es your phone’s
GPS PIN security feature. See “Setting the GPS
PIN Security Feature” on page 99.
• Change Passwords — changes your phone
unlock code, security code, SIM PIN, and GPS
PIN.
Advanced FeaturesThe Advanced menu contains advanced and rarely
used Settings features.
• Alert Tim eout — sets the amount of time a tone
continues to sound whe n you receive a
message notification, call alert, or Datebook
reminder.
• Headset/Spkr — sets head set option. See
“Using a Headset” on page 122.
• Disco Lights — sets the lights in the e xternal
display to light up whe n a musical ring tone
sounds.
Note:Some musical ring tones you download to
your phone may not activa te disco lights.
• Connectivity — Network ID sets the pho ne’s
network IDs and their roaming options under the
direction of your service provider; Master Reset
lets your service provider reset your service in
the event of a security or provisioning problem.
