The top screen row displays radio status information:

	Symbol	Indication

	A	The Companding
	Companding	feature is activated.
	Companding	When in narrow band,
		this feature improves
		audio quality.

	B	Low Power “ R“ or High
	Power Level	Power “ S“ is activated.
	Power Level

	C	The radio is on a CSQ
	C	channel, monitor is
	Carrier Squelch	channel, monitor is
	Carrier Squelch	active, or the
	(CSQ)	microphone is off-hook.
