Unpacking

The shipping box contains the MT5634ZLX/E PCMCIA LAN/Fax/Modem Card, one cable with a 15-pin detachable connector (to PC card) on one end and the other end splitting into one RJ-11 plug for PSTN connection and one RJ-45 plug for LAN connection, one 3-1/2” Software Drivers diskette, a printed Quick Start Guide manual, a User Guide manual on diskette, and a Fax/Modem communications CD (Trio). Inspect the contents for signs of any shipping damage. If damage is observed, do not power up the unit; contact Multi-Tech’s Technical Support for advice (refer to Appendix D). If no damage is observed, perform the cabling procedure.

Note: The MT5634ZLX/E-T/2 includes everything the MT5634ZLX/E does except it has its own MT5634ZLX/E PCMCIA LAN/Fax/Modem Card, a 15-pin detachable connector (to PC card) on one end; howver, the other end splits into one RJ-ll plug for a PSTN connection and one BNC T- connector converting 10BaseT to 10Base2 for a LAN connection. In addition, the MT5634ZLX/E shipping box also contains one phone cord with RJ-11 plug.

Safety Warning Telecom

1.Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.

2.Never install a telephone jack in wet locations unless the jack is specifically designed for wet locations.

3.This product is to be used with UL and cUL listed computers.

4.Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the telephone line has been disconnected at the network interface.

5.Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.

6.Avoid using a telephone (other than a cordless type) during an electrical storm. There may be a remote risk of electrical shock from lightning.

7.Do not use a telephone in the vicinity of a gas leak.

8.To reduce the risk of fire, use only 26 AWG or larger telecommunication line cord.
