The maximum flash shooting distance can also be calculated by dividing the guide number by the selected aperture value.

Example: When f/2 .8 is selected with ISO 100 film using the camera'sbuilt-in Speedlight, the maximum flash shooting distance will be:

12/2. 8 = approx. 4.2m or 40/2.8 = approx. 14 ft.
