AF Assist

Display the shooting or playback screen MPress the dbutton MTap z Set up MAF assist

Enable or disable the AF-assist illuminator, which assists autofocus operation when

the subject is dimly lit.

Option

Description

 

AF-assist illuminator will be used to assist the focus operation

Auto (default setting)

when the subject is poorly lit. The illuminator has a range of

about 2.0 m (6 ft 6 in.). Note that for some scene modes or

 

 

focus areas, AF-assist illuminator may not light.

 

 

Off

Disable this function. The camera may be unable to focus

under poor lighting.

 

 

 

Digital Zoom

Display the shooting or playback screen MPress the dbutton MTap z Set up M Digital zoom

Enable or disable digital zoom.

Option

Description

 

When the camera is zoomed in to the maximum optical zoom

On (default setting)

position, rotating the zoom control to g(i) triggers digital

 

zoom (A23).

 

 

Off

Digital zoom will not be activated.

 

 

BNotes About Digital Zoom

The camera focuses on the subject at the center of the frame when digital zoom is in effect.

Digital zoom cannot be used in the following situations:

-When Portrait, Night portrait, Backlighting (when HDR is set to On), Easy panorama, or Pet portrait scene mode is selected

-When smart portrait mode is selected

-When Subject tracking is selected for the touch shooting setting

-When Multi-shot 16 is selected (E37)
