Learning Commands from Other Remote Controllers

The AV receiver’s remote controller can receive and learn commands from other remote controllers. By trans- mitting, for example, the Play command from your CD player’s remote controller, the remote controller can learn it and then transmit the exact same command when its Play [ ] button is pressed in the CD remote mode.

Point the remote controllers at

If the command is learned successfully,

 

the Remote indicator flashes twice.

and so on are preprogrammed with commands for

controlling Onkyo CD players, cassette decks, and

DVD players. However, they can learn new com-

mands, and you can restore the preprogrammed com-

mands by resetting the remote controller (see

page 87).

• To overwrite a previously learned command, repeat

this procedure.

• Only commands from infrared remote controllers can

be learned.

• When the remote controller’s batteries expire, all

learned commands will be lost and will have to be

learned all over again, so don’t discard your other

remote controllers.
