EISO Sensitivity

Set to A, B, C or DMdMA, B, C, D(shooting menu) (A105) MISO sensitivity

Sensitivity is a measure of how quickly the camera reacts to light. The higher the sensitivity, the less light needed to make an exposure. Although a high ISO rating is suitable for shooting pictures of subjects in action or in poor lighting, high sensitivity is often associated with “noise” - randomly spaced, brightly colored pixels concentrated in dark parts of the image.

Auto (default setting)

Sensitivity is ISO 64 in bright places; in dark places the camera automatically raises sensitivity to a maximum of ISO 800. In D(manual) mode, sensitivity will be fixed at ISO 64 if Auto is chosen.

High ISO sensitivity auto

The ISO sensitivity is set automatically within the range of ISO 64 to 1600 according to the brightness of the subject. In D(manual) mode, sensitivity will be fixed at ISO 64 if High ISO sensitivity auto is chosen.

Fixed range auto

Choose the range in which the camera automatically adjusts ISO sensitivity, from ISO 64-100(default setting), ISO 64-200or ISO 64-400. The camera will not raise sensitivity beyond the maximum value in the selected range. Set the maximum value for ISO sensitivity for effective control over the amount of “grain” that appears in images. In D(manual) mode, sensitivity will be fixed at ISO 64 if Fixed range auto is chosen.

64, 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200, 6400

ISO Sensitivity will be locked at the specified value.

At settings other than Auto, the current setting is displayed in the monitor (A8). If Auto is selected and the sensitivity is raised above ISO 64, the Eicon will be displayed (A34). When High ISO sensitivity auto is selected Vwill be displayed, and Uand the maximum ISO sensitivity value are displayed when Fixed range auto is selected.

BNotes on ISO Sensitivity 3200 and 6400

When 3200 or 6400 is selected for ISO sensitivity, the image size will display in red during shooting.

When ISO sensitivity is set to 3200 or 6400, Image size (A108) cannot be set to

F 4000×3000, E 3264×2448, D 2592×1944, I 3984×2656, G 3968×2232 and

H 2992×2992. At these image size settings, selecting 3200 or 6400 for ISO sensitivity automatically switches the Image size setting to C 2048×1536. The last image size setting applied is restored when any setting other than 3200 or 6400 is selected for ISO sensitivity.
