∫When positioning is taking a long time
Under the following conditions, successful positioning may take 2 to 3 minutes even when
reception is good.
•When positioning is performed for the first time
•When reception has been poor for a significant time
•After changing the battery
•When the camera has been left for a significant time without being turned on
•When the camera has been moved a long way from the last location of successful recept ion
•When [GPS Setting] is set to [OFF]
•When [Airplane Mode] is set to [ON] and this unit is turned off
•Using GPS assist data can reduce the time required for positioning. (P128, 131)
∫Displayed location name information
•Country/region
•Prefecture/state
•City/ward/county
•Town/village
•Landmark
•Latitude/longitude (displayed by pressing [DISP.] several times to switch among the environment
information screen)
The location name information and latitude/longitude displayed on success of the positioning
are recorded in the recorded still pictures and motion pictures¢. When playing back images,
[ ] is displayed on those with which location name information have been recorded, and
[ ] is displayed on those with which location information have been recorded.
¢Information can only be recorded when recording using [MP4] or [FHD/60p/ ]/[FHD/60i/ ]/[HD/
60p/ ] in [AVCHD]. Note that only the information measured at the start of the recording is
recorded.
Valid information for the current position is displayed as location name information by searching
the location names and landmarks in the database in this unit based on the latitude/longitude
from the positioning. (It may not display the closest location.)
•[---] is displayed when there is no valid information even when the positioning is successful.
•Even when the location name information is displayed as [---], it may be possible to s elect the
location name information with [GPS Area Select] (P126).
•Desired landmark may not be registered. Location name information is as of October 2012. For
details of the types of landmark, refer to “Landmark types” on P246.
•Location name information (location names or landmark names) may be different from the of ficial
names.
Immediately after positioning has been achieved (and until the location name information can
be displayed), only latitude/longitude is recorded in the recorded image. Even if a positioning
attempt has failed during recording, location information may be recorded later when an
attempt succeeds.
•When playing back images containing only latitude/longitude, you can add loc ation name
information.
