Short Text Messages
Youcan receive, display, edit and send short text messages, of up to
160characters to mobile phones on the same network or any
networkthat has a roaming agreement.

Setting the Phone for Text Messages

Beforeyou can send a message you must enter the Message Centre
numberinto Parameters (your Service Provider can supply the
MessageCentre number). If the Message Centre number has been
pre-programmedon your SIM, pressB.

Setting the Message Centre Number

1FromIdle mode press B 353to access the Message
Centremenu
2Entermessage centre number in international dial format – see
“InternationalDialing” page 7.

Sending a Text Message

1FromIdle mode press B33toenter
theCreate menu and press B
2Enterthe message (up to 160 characters) –
see“Text Entry” page 43 and press B
Youare prompted to send the message. If you do
notwant to send the message press Cand the message is stored
inthe Send List.
3PressBand enter the destination phone number (or recall a
numberfrom the Phonebook (A) - see “Retrieve/Edit
PhonebookEntries” page12 and press B
Youmay be prompted for delivery confirmation. If you do not want
confirmationpress A. If you do, press B.
Thedefault for delivery confirmation can be set using the Report
parameterin the Parameters menu.
