26 Setting the Remote Control to Operate a TV

Your VCR remote control may operate your TV. Follow these steps to set the remote control code.

Point the remote control at your TV. Press the TV but- ton, then press the POWER button. If your TV turns on or off, try the CHANNEL Up/Down buttons. If your TV doesn’t turn on or off, or if the CHANNEL Up/Down buttons don’t work, go to step 2. If your TV does work, you’re finished.

Find the brand of your TV on the list below, and remem- ber the two-digit number to the right of it.

Press the MUTE button, then press the TV button. Then use two Number buttons to enter the two-digit code for your TV. For example, if you have a Zenith TV, press Number buttons 1, 5.

2 Find the code for your TV.

4 Repeat step 1.

Try step 1 again. If the remote control works your TV, you’re finished. If the remote control still doesn’t work your TV, repeat steps 2 - 3, using a different code.

There is no guarantee that the remote

control will work your TV.

Helpful Hints

•If you had to program the remote control to operate your TV, whenev- er you replace the batteries in the remote control, you will have to pro- gram the remote control again.

•If you have a Philips TV or a Magnavox TV, you can use the remote control to operate other TV functions. Press the TV button before pressing other TV operation buttons. Details are on pages 20 - 21.
