Wireless Operation

Network Privacy

The PMP supports both WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) and WPA PSK (Wireless Protected Access Pre Shared Key) network privacy methods.

WEP: 64-bit and 128-bit keys are supported.

WPA: A password comprised of from 8 to 63 characters may be used.

Configuring Wireless Access

To configure wireless access on the PMP, simply try to connect to a wireless network. If the PMP detects it does not have the proper configuration it will prompt you to enter an appropriate network key as required by the network. For example, if you try to connect to a network enabled for WPA, the player will prompt you to enter a WPA network key (i.e., password). The network configuration information will be saved on the PMP for future use.

Advanced Wireless Configuration

You will need to manually configure a wireless network if any of the following applies:

Your WAP is configured with broadcast SSID disabled. In this case, you need to manually enter the SSID and indicate that it is non-broadcast.

Your wireless network is configured to use static IP addressing. In this case you need to manually enter an IP address and mask for your PMP.

Use the ‘Configure Networks’ option in the Wireless application to access the advanced wireless configuration. From this menu, you are able to add a new network and edit existing networks.
