Using Your Printer

1
To remove stains, smudges and/or dried ink from the exterior of the printer, use
a soft cloth moistened with water. Do not use household cleaners or detergent.
In the event that a household cleaner or detergent is used on the printer, wipe
the printer’s exterior surfaces with a soft cloth moistened with water.
Do not lubricate the rod on which the print cartridge cradles move. Noise is
normal when the cradles move back and forth.
For information on cleaning print cartridges and the print cartridge cradle, see
“Cleaning Print Cartridges” on page 33.
For maximum performance and reliability, the printer should be handled and
stored in an upright, level position.
Printer Software
Use your printer software to control how and what you print. Print quality, paper
size and type, and Two-Sided Printing are just a few of the options available to you
in the HP Printer Properties dialog box.
1From your software program, select
File Print.
Your software program opens a Print
dialog box, similar to the one on the
right.
2From the Print dialog box, click
Properties. The HP Printer Properties
dialog box opens.
Or try this:
1If you don’t see a Print option in the File
menu, select File Printer Setup or
File Print Setup.
2From the Printer Setup or Print Setup
dialog box, click Setup or Options.

Caution

Note: If you are printing from Windows 3.1x or DOS, see page 59.
