1.3 Settings

When connecting for the first time, it is necessary to enter some configuration settings to enable OpenHand to connect to the OpenHand Server. These settings will be supplied by your Systems Administrator and are entered on the Settings page as follows:

Click on the OpenHand Main Menu.

The first Settings page will be displayed.

1.Click in the Username field.

2.Enter your ‘domain’\’username’

3.Click on the Connection tab.

4.Type the IP address of your OpenHand server into the host field.

5.Click on the Port field only if the port number is different from the default shown.

6.Click on the Persistent selection box to activate this feature. (NB Persistence ensures that communication is re-established with the network if there is a mobile network fault, or the network reallocates your GPRS to another mobile user.

7.Click on the Security tab.

8. Click on the Encrypt locally selection box if you wish to secure the local OpenHand folders and program.

(NB This prevents unauthorized access to any emails stored locally
