1.3.1 Explanation of Settings Terms

Host : IP address of your OpenHand server.

Port : Port number of your OpenHand server (default 10622).

Key :

Security key.

Use SSL:

Indicates whether SSL will be used to connect to

 

the OpenHand server.

Username:

The format depends on the type of server:

 

Username format for Microsoft® Exchange :

 

<DOMAINNAME> \ <USERNAME>

Password format :for Microsoft® Exchange:

Use your LAN Account password

Note: If you are unable to log in:

1.Check your Username and Password are correct and are in the right format for the type of server you are connecting to.

2.Check that Caps Lock is not on.

3.Click Settings to check your connection settings. Your network administrator will advise you of the correct settings.

1.4 Local Security

1.OpenHand provides additional security by encrypting the local email, contacts, calendar and task folders preventing unauthorized access if the device is lost or stolen.

2.If local security has been activated in the settings menu, the next time OpenHand is used it will ask for a local password. This is initially blank and can be bypassed by clicking OK.

3.To change the password to something more secure, click Change. The following screen is displayed.
