Caution – Do not allow any IB cable to experience extreme tension. Do not pull on
an IB cable or allow it to drag. Unroll an IB cable for its length. Pulling on an IB
cable can break the cables internally.
Caution – Do not twist an IB cable more than 1 revolution for its entire length.
Twistingan IB cable can break the cable internally.
Caution – Do not route IB cables where they might be stepped upon or experience
rolling loads. Such a crushing effect can break the cable internally.
Removing Cables From the Sun DatacenterSwitch 3456
This procedure describes how to remove the cables fromone line card, so that line
card can be replaced. If you areremoving cables for several line cards or all line
cards,work from the upper line card down. This way, you have more working space
as your task progresses.
If you are removing a cable from the switch to replacethat cable, consider the
following:
If you are removing a cable from connectors 0A through11B, start the procedure
at Step 8.
If you areremoving a cable from connectors 12A through 23B, start the procedure
at Step 1.
1. Locate the connector at 12B.
This is the upper cable.
2. Grasp the cable connector to support its weight and apply the removal force.
3. Pull on the loop of the retractor strap while simultaneously pulling on the
cable connector.
The cable connector comes free.
4. Carefully move the cable out of the front branch of the cable tree.
