6.4Powering Off Fabric Cards

Powering off a fabric card is a two-stage process. First you must take the fabric card to a standby state, then you can power off the fabric card completely.

The deactivate command powers down the fabric card to a standby state. For example, to deactivate fabric card 14:

#deactivate fc 14 Deactivating FC 14

Pigeon Point Shelf Manager Command Line Interpreter Command issued via IPMB, status = 0 (0x0) Command executed successfully

Caution – When a fabric card is deactivated, its fans are also powered off. The cooling provided by the fabric card is no longer available to the rest of the chassis. When you power off a fabric card for repairs or replacement, work quickly so that the chassis thermal management is not compromised.
