SUPERSERVER 5014C-MF User's Manual

1-2 Motherboard Features

At the heart of the SuperServer 5014C-MF lies the P8SCT, a single processor motherboard based upon Intel's E7221 chipset. Below are the main features of the P8SCT.

Processor

The P8SCT has a single LGA775 ZIF socket to support an Intel® Pentium® 4 ("Prescott" type) processor with hyper-threading technology at an 800/533 MHz FSB speed or a single Intel® Celeron® processor at a 533 MHz FSB speed. Please refer to the support section of our web site for a complete listing of supported processors (http://www.supermicro.com/support/).

Memory

The P8SCT has four (4) 240-pin DIMM sockets that can support up to 4 GB of unbuffered ECC type DDR2-533/400 SDRAM modules. The P8SCT's dual-channel memory bus requires modules to be populated in pairs. All memory modules must be the same size and speed.

Serial ATA

A Serial ATA controller is incorporated into the ICHR6 (South Bridge) portion of the E7221 chipset to provide a four-port Serial ATA subsystem, which is RAID0, RAID1 and RAID 10 supported. The drive may also be used in a JBOD confi guration. Only a single hard drive may be installed in the system. The Serial ATA drive is not hot-swappable.

PCI Expansion Slots

The P8SCT has one 64-bit 133 MHz PCI-X slot and fi ve 32-bit PCI slots. One riser card is included with the system (see Chapter 5 for details).

Ethernet Ports

Two onboard Broadband BCM5721 Ethernet controllers are integrated into the P8SCT to support two Gigabit LAN (Ethernet) ports.
