Macintosh Setup

To have the Macintosh recognize the MIDI Timepiece A/V and various MIDI devices using Free MIDI.

Open Free MIDI Preferences in the File menu, then select only the “Modem” check box of MIDI Configurations, Serial Ports. We recommend you to leave the other check box blank for “Printer", avoiding possible conflicts in serial communications.

If OMS is installed, there is a possibility of conflict. It is recommended that it be disabled using the computer's extension manager.

Expansion Software Setup

Select [Preference] from the Edit menu and open the dialog box. Select [Port Setup] in the dialog box and set the [Automation Port] to [Printer].

Similarly, check that [Use MIDI] has no check mark in the preference port setup menu. If it has a check mark, de-select it and restart the expansion software.

Similarly, select [WR-DA7 Timecode Input] as a sync source on the preference port setup menu. Then, select a check mark for [Receive Timecode] on the Real-time menu so that MTC can be received from the DA-98 via the WR-DA7.

MIDI Sequencer (Digital Performer) Setup

To receive MTC from the DA-98 through the MIDI Timepiece A/V , set Sync Port to [Modem] on the Receive Sync item of the Basic menu, and set [Type of Sync] to [MTC, DTL or DTLe]. Then, set [Slave to External Sync] to [ON] in the Basic menu and press the [Play] button on the control panel. When MTC is received from the MIDI Timepiece A/V , Digital Performer timecode begins to run.
