Connecting a monitor, keyboard and mouse

By connecting an external monitor, external full-size keyboard and a mouse, you can work with your notebook as if it were a standard office computer.

To connect a television to your computer, you must first purchase a video cable.

You can connect an external monitor to the monitor port. For more information, see “Back” on page 29.

You can connect an external USB-compatible keyboard and a USB-compatible mouse to one of the USB ports. For more information about connecting a mouse, see “Connecting a mouse” on page 52.

Connecting to a local area network

You can connect your computer to a Local Area Network (LAN) at work or from a remote location.

Accessing a LAN

To access a LAN:

At the office

If your computer has an integrated 10/100 Ethernet port, you can connect the network Ethernet cable to the LAN (RJ45) port on your computer. Your computer may also be equipped for wireless communications. For specific information, consult your network administrator.

From home or while on the road

You’ll need a dial-up connection. Ask your network administrator for the telephone number of the network.
