Getting started
1Connect your computer’s modem to a telephone line.
TECHNICAL NOTE: If you are using the telephone line at home, disable Call Waiting before you connect through the modem. Call Waiting interrupts data transmission.
2Start your Web browser. Have your modem dial the ISP’s telephone number, and establish a connection with the ISP’s computer.
If you are using your computer at the office, then you probably connect to the Internet through your company’s local area network. For more information, see “Connecting to a local area network” on page 147.
