Optical disc drive safety instructions

The computer is shipped with one of the following drives preinstalled: DVD-ROM, CD-RW/DVD-ROM, or DVD Super Multi (+-R DL) drive.

■The optical disc drive employs a laser system. To ensure proper use of this product, please read this instruction manual carefully and retain for future reference. Should the unit ever require maintenance, contact an authorized service location.

■Use of controls, adjustments or the performance of procedures other than those specified may result in hazardous radiation exposure.

■To prevent direct exposure to the laser beam, do not try to open the enclosure.

The optical drive that is used in this computer is equipped with a laser device. A classification label with the following sentence is affixed to the surface of the drive.

The drive with one of the labels above is certified by the manufacturer that the drive complies with the requirement for laser product on the date of manufacturing pursuant to article 21 of Code of Federal Regulations by the United States of America, Department of Health & Human Services, Food and Drug Administration.

In other countries, the drive is certified to comply with the requirement pursant to IEC 825 and EN60825 on class 1 laser product.
