Disconnectthe spark plug wire and
preventit from touching the spark plug to
preventaccidentalstarting. Onelectric
startmodels, always removethe cable
from the negativeside (-) of the battery.
9. Alwayskeep the tiller tine hoodflap
down, unlessusing the hiller/furrower
attachment.
lB. Neverusethe tiller unless proper
guards, plates,or other safetyprotective
devicesarein place.
11. Do not runengine in an enclosed
area.Engineexhaust contains carbon
monoxidegas, a deadly poison that is
odorless,colorless, and tasteless.

13. Neveroperatethe tiller under
enginepowerif the Wheel Gear Lever is
inDISENGAGE(FREEWHEEL).Inthis
position,thewheels will notholdthe
tiller backand the revolvingtines could
propelthetiger rapidly,possibly
causinglossofcontrol. Alwaysmovethe
WheelGearLever to ENGAGEbefore
startingthe engine or engagingthe
tines/wheelswith theForward Clutch
Controlor the ReverseClutchControl.
14. Beaware thatthe tiller may unex-
pectedlybounceupwardorjump
forwardif the tines shouldstrike
extremelyhardpackedsoil, frozen
ground,or buriedobstacleslike large
stones,roots,or stumps. If in doubt
aboutthe tilling conditions,alwaysuse
thefollowing operatingprecautionsto
assistyouin maintaining controlof the
tiger:
a. Walkbehindand to one side ofthe
tiller, usingone hand on thehan-
dlebars.Relax yourarm, butusea
securehandgrip.
b. Useshallower depthregulatorset-
tings,workinggraduallydeeper
witheach pass.
c. Useslower enginespeeds.
d. Clearthe tilling area of all large
stones,rootsand otherdebris.
e. Avoidusingdownwardpressure
onhandlebars.If need be, use
slightupwardpressureto keepthe
tinesfrom diggingtoodeeply.
f. Beforecontactinghardpackedsoil
atthe end of a row, reduce engine
speedand lift handlebarstoraise
tinesout ofthe soil.
g. In an emergency,stop tines and
wheelsbyreleasing whichever
ClutchLeveris engaged. Do not
attemptto restrainthe tiller.
15. Do not overloadthe tiller's capacity
byattempting to till too deeplyat too fast
arate.
16. Neveroperatethe tiller at high trans-
port speedson hardor slippery surfaces.
Lookbehind and use care when backing
up.
17. Donot operate the tiller on a slope
that istoo steepfor safety. When on
slopes,slow down and make sure you
havegood footing. Never permit the tiller
tofreewheel down slopes.
18. Neverallow bystanders near the unit.
19. Onlyuse attachments and acces-
soriesthat are approved by the tiller
manufacturer.
20. Usetiller attachments and acces-
sorieswhen recommended.
21. Neveroperatethetiller without good
visibility or light.

engine-governorsettingsonthe machine;
