5 Copying

This chapter gives you step-by-step instructions for copying documents.

This chapter includes:

Selecting the paper tray

After loading the print media for copy output, you must select the paper tray you will use for copy jobs.

1Press Menu until Copy Menu appears on the bottom line of the display and press Enter.

2Press Scroll buttons until System Setup appears and press Enter.

3Press the Scroll buttons until Paper Setup appears and press Enter.

4Press the Scroll buttons until Paper Source appears and press Enter.

5Press the Scroll buttons until the paper tray you want appears and press Enter.

6Press Stop/Clear to return to Standby mode.

Copying

1Place an original document on the scanner glass.

Customize the copy settings including copy size, darkness, and original type, by using the control panel Menu buttons.

If necessary, you can use special copy features, such as Poster copying or 2 Up copying. See 5.3. and 5.5.

2Press Color Start to begin color copying.

Or, press Black Start to begin black and white copying.

Tip

You can cancel the copy job during an operation. Press Stop/ Clear, and the copying will stop.

Changing the settings for each copy

The buttons on the control panel let you select all basic copy options: darkness, document type and copy size. Set the following options for the current copy job before pressing Black Start or Color Start to make copies.

Tip

If you press Stop/Clear while setting the copy options, all of the options you have set for the current copy job will be canceled and returned to their default status.

Reduced/Enlarged copy

You can reduce or enlarge the size of a copied image from 50% to 200%.

To select from the predefined copy sizes:

1Press Menu until Copy Menu appears on the bottom line of the display and press Enter.

2Press Scroll buttons until Copy Feature appears and press Enter.

3Press Scroll buttons until Reduce/Enlarge appears and press Enter.

4Press the Scroll buttons to select the size setting you want and press Enter.

To fine-tune the size of copies:

1Press Menu until Copy Menu appears on the bottom line of the display and press Enter.

2Press Scroll buttons until Copy Feature appears and press Enter.

3Press Scroll buttons until Reduce/Enlarge appears and press Enter.

4Press the Scroll buttons until Custom appears and press Enter.

5Press the Scroll buttons to enter the copy size you want. Pressing and holding the button allows you to quickly scroll to the number you want.

6Press Enter to save the selection.

Tip

When you make a reduced copy, black lines may appear at the bottom of your copy.
