Connecting Peripheral Equipment

Printer

You can connect a printer to a parallel port of the external floppy drive/port expander.

"NOTE:Read the printer manual before setting up the printer.

Check the setup utility for the LPT port settings before installing a printer driver.

Installing a Printer Driver

To use a printer, you need to install a printer driver.

1.In Windows Start menu, select Settings-Printers.

2.Double-tap Add Printer. The Add Printer appears.

3.Tap Next.

4.Confirm Local printer is selected and tap Next.

5.Select the manufacturer and the printer, and click Next. If you cannot find the model name of your print* er you will have to install the printer driver included with your printer. See your printer manual for de* tails.

6.Select LPT1 and tap Next.

7.Make sure the printer name is correct and tap Next.

8.Decide whether to print a test page, and tap Finish. Before printing a test page, make sure the printer is powered up and on line.

RS–232C

An RS-232C serial device, such as a modem or scanner can be connected to the 6642. The serial port is available on the exter* nal floppy drive/port expander. Check the setup utility for serial port settings on the 6642 and consult the user manual before connecting the device.
