channel-storage banks

The scanner displays the channel-storage bank number while scanning a channel. You can turn off a bank by pressing the bank’s number, but one bank must always be active. To increase scanning speed, you can lock out channels with continuous transmission, such as weather channels or birdies. Birdies are internally generated signals inherent in the electronics of the receiver. If your scanner stops during scan mode and no sound is heard, it may be receiving a birdie.

To lock out a channel, manually select the channel, then press L/O. L/O appears in the display. To unlock a channel, press L/O when the scanner stops on the channel or manually select the channel and press L/O. L/O disappears. To unlock all channels in the banks that are turned on, press HOLD/RESUME to stop scanning, then hold down L/O until the scanner beeps twice.
