Chapter 1. Safety Precautions

Disc Handling

The CD drive on the document recorder is a CD-rewritable drive. However, this system prohibits documents recorded on discs from being deleted, and prohibits the use of CD-RW discs that allow data to be deleted. With the document recorder only use 650/700 MB CD-R discs that comply with the Recordable Compact Disc Security System Part II Standard (Orange Book).

DISC SECURITY

Damaged discs whose data can no longer be read cannot be repaired. Canon assumes no liability for damaged discs.

Never use scratched or chipped discs. Doing so might damage the document recorder or cause it to malfunction.

Use only discs carrying themark on this unit. You cannot use discs carrying the mark.
