Chapter 3. Getting Started

This chapter describes how to prepare the machine before using it with procedures for connecting cables, turning the power ON/OFF, and inserting/removing discs.

Connecting the Network Cable and Peripherals

To use the CD-4070NW over a network, connect a 10Base-T/100Base-TX compliant network cable to the rear of the scanner. Connect a mouse, keyboard, and monitor according to your preference.

VGA Monitor (640 x 480 dpi)

PS/2 Mouse

PS/2 Keyboard

IMPORTANT

Connect a mouse and keyboard before turning the scanner ON.

Your local authorized Canon dealer will configure or confirm the network settings in the presence of your network administrator.

A mouse and keyboard are required in order to configure the network environment and other settings.

Connecting the Power Cord

Connect the power cord provided with the document recorder to the power connector on the rear of the document recorder, and insert the power plug into the power outlet.

IMPORTANT

• Use only the power cord provided with the document recorder.

• When using an uninterruptible power source (UPS), insert the power plug into that.

Be sure to connect the power cord while the document recorder’s power switch is in the OFF position.
