Chapter 4. Using the CD-4070NW

Creating Patch Code Sheets

Make copies of the patch code patterns provided at the rear of this manual. Follow the guidelines below when copying patch code patterns.

Copy the patch code patterns onto paper of the same type as that of the document to be scanned. If the paper thickness substantially differs, a feed error may occur.

Copy patch code patterns ensuring that the copies maintain the same size and image density as that of the document. If the copies are too light or dark, they may not be scanned properly.

Copy patch code patterns so that they are positioned on the page within the detectable area specified below.

3.7" (94 mm)

Units: inches (units in parentheses are millimeters)

Take care not to get patch code sheets dirty, especially within the detectable area. In order for the sheets to be scanned properly, make sure they do not get folded or crumpled.

If the image density is too light or dark, the patch code sheets may not be scanned properly.

Using Patch Code Sheets

1 Make a copy of the patch pattern printed on p.51. Make sure the paper is the same size as that of the document to be scanned. (See “Patch Code Sheets,” on p.35.)

Patch Code Sheet

2 Insert the patch code sheets before or between each document.

Insert the patch code sheets before the first page of each document where file segmentation should occur.
