MAINTENANCE

REPLACING THE TONER CARTRIDGE

The printer includes a starter toner cartridge which is expected yield 1,000 pages. The printer can print 3,000 pages after replacing toner cartridge (TN-100). When the toner cartridge is running low, the ALARM and TONER lamps blink once every 5 seconds to indicate that the toner is low.

Note

It is recommended that you always keep a new toner cartridge ready to use for when you get the toner low warning.

Discard the used toner cartridge according to local regulations. If you are not sure of them, consult your local dealer.

It is recommended that you clean the printer at the same time as you replace the toner cartridge. See “CLEANING THE PRINTER” in this chapter.

Fig. 5-1 Toner Low and Empty Indication

Caution

Approximately 100 pages can be printed after the first toner low indication. Both the ALARM and TONER lamps will blink to indicate that the toner is empty. Although this indication appears, you can print some pages by pressing the FF/CONT switch. Prepare the new toner cartridge and replace the old unit with a new one to eliminate the toner low or empty indication.
