CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION

APT (Advanced Photoscale Technology)

This printer can print graphics saved in the tagged image file format (TIFF) in 256 shades of gray in HP LaserJet 4 emulation, producing photographic like quality.

Optional AppleTalkInterface (Pre-installed in some countries) An optional AppleTalk interface is available for this printer. This allows your printer to connect with an Apple Macintosh computer. To connect with an Apple Macintosh, you also need to install the optional BR-Script 2 ROM board.

Optional BR-Script 2 ROM board (Pre-installed in some countries)

The optional BR-Script 2 ROM board is available for the printer. With this option fitted, the printer has a PostScript level 2 language emulation - BR-Script 2. You can connect the printer to an Apple Macintosh Computer with the optional AppleTalk interface board.

Enhanced Memory Management

The printer has its own Data Compression Technology, which can automatically compress graphic data and download font data efficiently into the printer’s memory. You can avoid memory errors and print most full page 600 dpi graphic and text data, including larger fonts, with the printer’s standard memory.

Environmentally Friendly Economy Printing Mode

This feature will cut your printing cost by saving toner. This feature is useful when draft copies are used for proof-reading. You can select two economy mode which is 25% toner saving or 50% toner saving through the Remote Print Console program or the Windows printer driver supplied with your printer.

Sleep Mode

Sleep mode automatically reduces power consumption when the printer is not in use. The printer consumes less than 12W when in sleep mode.

Low Running Cost

The toner cartridge is separate from the Drum Unit. You need to replace only the toner cartridge after around 3,000 pages, which is cost effective and ecologically friendly.
