coaxial cable (coax)

A type of wire consisting of a center wire surrounded by insulation and a grounded shield of braided wire. The shield minimizes

 

electrical and radio frequency interference.

configuration data

The data the Communications Gateway downloads from servers specified by your service provider. This includes requesting an

 

IP address from a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server, downloading a DOCSIS configuration file from a Trivial

 

File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) server, and obtaining the network time-of-day.

Cable television, high-speed Internet access, telephone service, and other information services provided over a single coaxial

DOCSIS
