Immediate Transmission

Immediate Transmission

With Immediate Transmission, when you press the {Start} key, the fax number is dialed immediately. The message is scanned and transmitted page by page without being stored in memory. This contrasts with Memory Transmission which scans all pages into memory before dialing the desti- nation.

Immediate Transmission is useful if you want immediate confirmation that the message is being sent to the correct destination (just check the oth- er terminal's Own Name or Own Fax Number on the control panel during transmission).

Limitation

Internet Fax is performed only with Memory Transmission which starts transmission automatically after storing documents in memo- ry. If you specify Immediate Trans- mission in Internet Fax, the “Try again after switching to memory transmission.” message appears. When this happens, press [Exit], and then switch to Memory Transmission.

Note

You cannot send the same docu- ment to multiple destinations (broadcasting). Memory Transmis- sion allows this function.

You can have the machine set to Memory Transmission mode or Immediate Transmission mode right after the power is turned on. See p.81 “Home Position”, Facsimi- le Reference <Advanced Features> .

You can have the machine return to the default transmission mode

(Memory Transmission or Imme- diate Transmission) after every transmission. You can change this

so that the desired setting is main- 2 tained. See p.66 “General Set- tings/Adjust”, Facsimile Reference <Advanced Features> .

Note

You can scan a few pages of your original from the exposure glass and the remaining pages from the ADF. When you have finished scanning from the ex- posure glass, remove the origi- nal from the exposure glass and place the remaining pages in the ADF within 10 seconds.

To send two or more pages us- ing the exposure glass, set them one page at a time.

The original can be placed whenever, before the {Start}key is pressed.
