If you release the dial, it turns to the center position.

Notes:

As the SHUTTLE dial is turned in the stop mode, the VCR is set to the FF or REW mode and it does not go back to stop mode until you press the STOP button. Turning the dial back to initial position does not return the VCR to the stop mode.

The reverse playback mode will be released automatically after 1 minute and the forward playback will start.

The still picture mode will be released automatically after 10 minutes and forward playback will start.

The reverse slow mode will be playback up to 255 fields.
