To eliminate the confirmation

sound

Every time a button is pressed, a “beep” will be heard in the headphones.

To silence the “beep” sound, do the follow- ing:

1 While in the stop mode ...

Hold down the PLAY MODE button or the MODE/INS button until “SET UP” appears.

When you release the button, “BEEP 1 (BEEP ON)” will appear.

2 Press the PLAY MODE button or the MODE/INS button.

“BEEP 0 (BEEP OFF)” will appear, and the confirmation sound will dis- appear.

To restore the confirmation sound, select “BEEP 1 (BEEP ON)”.

3 Press the /:OFF button.

The normal display will reappear.

To turn off the display backlight

Whenever you press a button, the display will light for about 4 seconds, so that you can read it in the dark. You can turn off the backlight.

1 While in the stop mode ...

Hold down the PLAY MODE button or the MODE/INS button until “SET UP” appears.

When you release the button, “BEEP

1 (BEEP ON)” or “BEEP 0 (BEEP OFF)” will appear.

2 Hold down the 5or 4button until “EL on (EL ON)” appears.

3 Press the PLAY MODE button or the MODE/INS button.

“EL off (EL OFF)” will appear, and the backlight will go out.

To turn the backlight back on, select “EL on (EL ON)”.

4 Press the /:OFF button.

The normal display will reappear.
