Position the magnet on the door or window alongside the transmitter. Mark the points for drilling and drill the holes. Then screw the magnet to the mounting surface using the screws provided.

INSTALLING THE MOVEMENT DETECTOR

There are two pet tolerant Movement Detectors provided with your BT Home Monitor VP1000 – they are described as passive infrared (PIR) sensors. Their purpose is to sense movement within a chosen room.

The pet tolerant sensors are designed so that pets up to approximately 36kg (80lb) do not trigger an alert message. However larger pets must remain below a height of 1m (3') – meaning they should not be allowed onto higher surfaces such as furniture. Pet tolerance also decreases the closer the animal is to the detector.

As soon as the Movement Detector is installed, any activity sensed within the line of sight will trigger an alert. The sensors are defined as HOME & HOUSE within the default settings. This means that when the BT Home Monitor VP1000 is switched on, the siren will sound immediately if the sensor is triggered. Once you have installed the system, you can change this setting if you desire.

If you need to locate your Movement Detector near to your Control Panel you may want to change the setting to WALK THRU which will allow you to walk past the sensor without setting off alerts whilst entering or leaving your home.

When movement is detected and a signal is sent to the Control Panel the Movement Detector will go into SLEEP mode for 90 seconds to save battery power. Once the duration of the SLEEP mode has passed, the detector will be in ready mode again as long as it has not been disturbed.
