Recovering from Corruption

Setthe DUMPSHMEM environment variable at the system prompt or in your
.loginor .cshrc (C shell) or your .profile (Bourne shell) file as follows:

DUMPDIR

TheDUMPDIR environment variable directs the OnLine database server
processto save the diagnostic output generated by GCORE or DUMPSHMEM
to the specified directory instead of to the current directory.

Recovering from Corruption
This section describes some of the symptoms of OnLine system corruption
and actions that OnLine or you, as administrator, can take to resolve the
problems. Corruption in an OnLine system can occur as a consequence of
problems caused by hardware or the operating system, or from some
unknownOnLine problems. Corruption can affect either user process data or
OnLine control information.
