DISPLAYING AND CHANGING SUBTITLES

When playing DVD discs which contain subtitles, you can display the subtitles on the screen or change the language of the subtitles.

SELECT

• The symbol will be displayed if you try to show

subtitles with a disc which does not contain them.

The first subtitles displayed will be in the subtitle language selected with the subtitle setting (see page 39). If there are no subtitles in that language on the disc, the disc will determine which subtitles are shown.

Subtitles may only be changed with discs which contain more than one set of subtitles.

The number of subtitle languages varies from disc to disc.

With some discs, it may take a few moments after you press SUBTITLE SELECT for the new subtitles to be displayed.

1 Press SUBTITLE SELECT during playback.

When no subtitles are recorded, “OFF” will be displayed instead of the language number.

2 Press repeatedly SUBTITLE SELECT until the desired language is selected.

Number of the subtitle language being played back is displayed.

To eliminate the On Screen Subtitles.

Press SUBTITLE SELECT repeatedly to select OFF at step 2.

NOTE

When a disc supporting the closed caption is played, the subtitle and the closed caption may overlap each other on the TV screen. In this case, turn the subtitle off.
