5.1.2Investigating Software Conﬁguration Problems

Software problems usually occur when your software conﬁguration contains incomplete or incorrect information.

Device not forwarding packets

•Ensure that the proper DS1 transmit clock source is conﬁgured using the dsx1 command in Network Tools.

NOTE

When connecting two ds1 devices, one must be tx clock master (local timing) and the other must be slave (loop timing).

•Check the DS1 line type. The default is ESF but some devices may be conﬁgured for D4. Ensure that the local and remote DS1 devices are conﬁgured with the same line (Framing) type.

•Ensure that the DS1 loopback is not conﬁgured (default is none) using the dsx1 command.

5.1.3Problems with the Firmware Image

The ﬁrmware image for the HSIM-W87 is supported on the host platform, therefore, if there is a problem with the ﬁrmware image for the HSIM-W87, the image for the platform must be downloaded. Refer to the host platform user’s guide for information on this procedure.
