Chapter13 Configuring LRE Configuring LRE Ports

Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to assign a margin to a speci fic LRE po rt:

To return to the default values, use the no margin {downstream | upstream} interface configuration

command.

Note The margin command is effective with any profile, but only with rate selection and only when a link is

being activated.

Configuring LRE Link Persistence

If the LRE link shuts down and is automatically re-enabled quickly, the switch configuration might

change. For example, the dynamic MAC addresses are removed from the MAC address table. You can

use the link persistence feature to configure a delay duration on the Catal yst 295 0 LRE s wi tch of up to

20 seconds before link failure is reported.

Command Purpose

Step1 configure terminal Enter global configuration mode.

Step2 interface interface-id Enter the number of the LRE port to be configured, and enter

interface configuration mode.

Step3 margin {downstream value | upstream value} Enter the downstream or upst ream ma rgin value (in dB). For the

values, see Table 13-6 on page13-16, Table 13-7 on page 13-17,

Table13-8 on pag e 13-18, and Table 13-9 on page 13-18.

Step4 end Return to privileged EXEC mode.

Step5 show controllers lre profile details Verify the change.

Step6 copy running-config startup-config (Optional) Save your entries in the configuration file.

Command Purpose

Step3 persistence delay Enter the length of time (in seconds) for the delay durati on. T he

default is 3 seconds. The range is 1 to 20 seconds.

Step6 copy running-config startup-config (Optional) Save your entries in the configuration file.
