Connecting I/O Controller, NPE-G1, or NPE-G2 Cables

The MII port uses two 56 screw-type locks, called jackscrews, to secure the cable or transceiver to the port. MII cables and transceivers have knurled thumbscrews that you fasten to the jackscrews on the MII port and tighten with your fingers. Use the jackscrews to secure your MII cable to the MII port.

Connecting to the Console and Auxiliary Ports

The NPE-G1, NPE-G2, and all I/O controllers have a DCE-mode console port for connecting a console terminal, and a DTE-mode auxiliary port for connecting a modem or other DCE device (such as a CSU/DSU or other router) to your router.
