How to Perform Switch Setup Configuration
Manually Booting the Switch
By default, the switch automatically boots up; however, you can configure it to manually boot up.
Before You Begin
Use a standalone switch for this task.
Command Purpose
Step 1 configure terminal Enters global configuration mode.
Step 2 boot config-file flash:/file-url Specifies the configuration file to load during the next boot-up
cycle.
For file-url, specify the path (directory) and the configuration
filename.
Filenames and directory names are case sensitive.
Step 3 end Returns to privileged EXEC mode.
Step 4 show boot Verifies your entries.
The boot config-file global configuration command changes the
setting of the CONFIG_FILE environment variable.
Step 5 copy running-config startup-config (Optional) Saves your entries in the configuration file.

Step 4 show boot Verifies your entries.
The boot manual global command changes the setting of the
MANUAL_BOOT environment variable.
The next time you reboot the system, the switch is in boot loader
mode, shown by the switch: prompt. To boot up the system, use the
boot filesystem:/file-url boot loader command.
For filesystem:, use flash: for the system board flash device.
For file-url, specify the path (directory) and the name of the
bootable image.

Step 5 copy running-config startup-config (Optional) Saves your entries in the configuration file.
