8.7.1Defining the COM1 Data Flow

Use the set com1_mode command from SRM or SCM to define the COM1 data flow paths.

You can set com1_mode to one of the following values:

through

All data passes through SCM and is filtered for the escape

sequence. This is the default.

snoop

Data partially bypasses SCM, but SCM taps into the data lines

and listens passively for the escape sequence.

soft_bypass

Data bypasses SCM, but SCM switches automatically into

snoop mode if loss of carrier occurs.

firm_bypass

Data bypasses SCM. SCM remote management features are

effectively disabled.

local

Changes the focus of the COM1 traffic to the local 9-pin port if

SCM is currently in one of the bypass modes or is in through

mode with an active remote session.

Example

SCM_E0> set com1_mode snoop

Using the System Control Manager 8-17
