Removing the Processor
Follow the instructions in “Before You Begin” on page 1. 6.
Remove the battery pack (see “Removing the Battery Pack” on page 2. 11).
Remove the compartment door (see “Removing the Compartment Door” on 3.
page 14).
Remove the hard drive (see “Removing the Hard Drive” on page 4. 17).
Remove the memory module(s) (see “Removing the Memory Module(s)” on 5.
page 21).
Remove the center control cover (see “Removing the Center Control Cover” 6.
on page 30).
Remove the right air-vent (see “Removing the Air Vents” on page 7. 42).
Remove the processor fan and heat sink assembly (see “Removing the 8.
Processor Fan and Heat Sink Assembly” on page 52).
CAUTION: When removing the processor, pull it straight up. Be careful
not to bend the pins on the processor.
To loosen the ZIF socket, use a small at-blade screwdriver and rotate the 9.
ZIF-socket cam screw counterclockwise until it comes to the cam stop.
e ZIF-socket cam screw secures the processor to the system board. Take
note of the arrow on the ZIF-socket cam screw.
Lift the processor o the ZIF socket. 10.
