Mixing LevelTheMixingLevelparameterdescribesthepeak��SPLduringthefinalmixingsessionatthe
studiooronthedubbingstage.Theparameterallowsaconsumer’samplifiertosetits
volumecontroltomatchthatofthemixingroom.Thiscontroloperatesinadditiontothe
dialoguelevelcontrol,andisbestthoughtofasthefinalvolumesettingontheconsumer’s
equipment.ThisvaluecanbedeterminedbymeasuringtheSPLofpinknoiseatstudio
referencelevelandthenaddingtheamountofdigitalheadroomabovethatlevel.For
example,if85dBequatestoareferencelevelof–20dBFS;themixinglevelis85+20,or105
dB.
Room TypeTheRoomTypeparameterdescribestheequalizationusedduringthefinalmixingsession
atthestudiooronthedubbingstage.Alargeroomisadubbingstagewiththeindustry
standardX‐curveequalization;asmallroomhasflatequalization.Thisparameterallows
anamplifiertobesettothesameequalizationasthatheardinthefinalmixing
environment.
