TROUBLESHOOTING

It is possible that the reduced flow of coffee is due to an obstruction in the shower head (6) perforated disc in the brewhead. This may be due to a build-up of grease and limescale over time.

If water does not flow uniformly from all the perforations in the 'shower head', it will need to be cleaned. Remove it by undoing the bolt in the brewhead, see page 26. Clean it with a cocktail stick or soak it in descaler.

WATER LEAKING EXCESSIVELY FROM FILTER HOLDER

The filter holder may not be properly located under the brewhead. Remove and re-attach.

The gasket in the brewhead may be dirty or worn.

There may be some stray grounds of coffee on the rim of the filter. Clean the rim and try again.

PUMP MAKES A LOUD NOISE

Check that there is water in the reservoir. If not, fill tank and try again.

Some noise and vibration is normal as the pump is very powerful.

POOR CREMA HEAD

The ground coffee is too coarse.

The coffee is old or dried out.

The grounds are tamped too firmly or not firmly enough.

Try again with fresh coffee, a finer grind and a more carefully tamped filter. Alternatively try an ESE pod which already has the perfect grind and tamped pressure.

NOT ENOUGH MILK FROTH

The milk may be full fat or too warm to start with. Use cold skimmed or semi-skimmed milk straight from the fridge.

The steam wand (14) or froth nozzle (16) may be clogged. Soak the froth nozzle in hot water and clean the end of the steam wand and air intake holes with a pin.

Descale the machine.
